14 footballers join camp on third day

Bangladesh national football team started the on-field sessions under the leadership of newly appointed interim head coach Mario Lemos at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Thursday.

14 footballers among the 24-member took part on the third day of the preparation camp.

The 24-member national team camp for the next month’s Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in Sri Lanka was scheduled to be started last Tuesday, but only five players joined the camp on the first day that forcing the coach to delay the on-field sessions for two days.

“It happens. Unfortunately, we had some problems with the players to come, but anyway, now it starts. Past is past and the future is the Sri Lanka tournament. I’m just thinking about that,” said the interim coach Lemos to the reporters after the day’s sessions.

“I have told the players that if we have 10/12/14 players, we will do what should we need to do whatever the number it is. If we think about excuses it won’t work. I am with the players I have and hopefully, I’ll have more soon,” he said.
