Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday expressed dismay at the grass roots leaders’ attitude towards each other.

Quader said they are labeling each other as ‘Razakar’ after not getting the party ticket for contesting the Union Parishad (UP) polls.

“We have to hear such an allegation while scrutinizing party candidates for UP elections that grass roots leaders are labeling each other as Razakar,” he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, made the comment while addressing a discussion titled ‘The Role of Sheikh Hasina in Development of Industry and Commerce amid the Coronavirus Crisis’ organised by the AL sub-committee on industry and commerce at a hotel in the capital.

Terming the tendency of the leaders as miserable incident, Quader said such allegations against rivals have been piling up at the party office.

“They are terming each other as son or grandchildren of Razakar and member of peace committee as there is lack of understanding among,” he said.

Chaired by AL advisory council member Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Jasim Uddin, former FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim and member-secretary of the sub-committee and AL’s commerce and industries secretary Siddiqur Rahman.
