Four more Rohingyas held

Four more Rohingyas have been arrested in connection with the six murders at a madrassa inside a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya of Cox’s Bazar.

The arrestees were identified as Shafiullah, a head majhi (community cluster leader) of camp 10, Farid Hossain, Jahed Hossain and Md Hashim.

Ukhiya Police Inspector Gazi Salauddin said members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Ukhiya police arrested Shafiullah during a joint operation on Monday midnight.

Three more Rohingyas -- Farid Hossain, Jahed Hossain and Md Hashim -- were arrested during raids in the camp on early Tuesday.

On Friday, assailants armed with sharp weapons and guns attacked a madrasa at Camp-18, Block H-52 at Ukhiya’s Balukhali. Four people were killed on the spot while others succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. Among the deceased, three were madrasa teachers, two were volunteers and one was student while around 12 people were critically injured.
