Bashundhara Kings’ Spanish head coach Oscar Bruzon served the national team as their interim coach during the SAFF Championship in Male, Maldives this month.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani Limited’s Portuguese coach Mario Lemos has been appointed for the same role for the upcoming Four Nation Invitational Tournament in Sri Lanka scheduled for next month.

However, neither of them received any kind of payment for the jobs with the national team after both denied taking money from the BFF, a top official confirmed to The Daily Sun recently.

“Neither Oscar nor Mario have taken any amount of money from us. Oscar served the national team for free, Mario is also doing the same,” BFF Vice President and National Teams’ Committee Chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed said.

The BFF still has a contract with their previous head coach Jamie Day until next year. They earlier stripped the Englishman from his job for two months due to the team’s dissatisfactory results in the tournaments in Nepal and Kyrgyzstan.

Nabil, meanwhile, also informed that they have no interest to appoint him to their other teams.

“We will sit with Jamie next month. We have a contract with him so we have to talk with him. Now, we are paying him as per the contract. We can afford his amount so far as the interim coaches are not asking for any amount,” he added.
