Renowned entomologist Dr Debashish Sarker has been appointed as the new Director General of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI).
Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday issued a notification in this regard, said a press release. Earlier, he served as the director of Pulses Research Center, Ishwardi of Pabna under BARI and chief scientific officer of Department of Entomology of BARI in Gazipur.
In 1990 he joined the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute’s Laksha Research Center in Chapainawabganj as a scientific officer.
He was subsequently promoted to the rank of senior scientific officer, principal scientific officer, chief scientific officer and director.
Dr Debashish was born in Joypurhat district on December 31 in 1963.
He is the father of two sons.
