More than two days have already elapsed since the arson attack in Boro Karimpur Village in Pirganj of Rangpur, Hindu people living there are still traumatized by the incident, which has shattered their dreams of living in peaceful coexistence within one nation.

Politicians, officials of administration and members of different socio-cultural organisations have visited the area on Tuesday and assured the victims of rehabilitating them.

“It took a lot of time to build a house and collect whatever we had. But the religious zealots snatched everything away from us. They attacked the area from all sides, vandalised my house and shop, took away valuables and finally set them on fire,” said Konika Rani, who lost her house and shop in the attack.

“It was like a nightmare. I was anxious watching communal attacks in different places of the country, but never thought that such an attack would take place in my own house,” said Shirish Chandra Roy, another victim of the attack.

The local administration has provided the victims with clothes, dry foods, corrugated sheet and cash assistance and assured them of extending all necessary support to rebuild their houses.
