Rights activists have urged the government to focus on persons with disabilities in the upcoming household survey to ensure inclusive development.

Addressing a roundtable on Tuesday, they also voiced concern over discrepancies in data on disabled persons used by the government for various purposes.

Planning Minister MA Mannan was the chief guest at the programme on inclusiveness of disabled persons in national survey at Kaler Kantho head office in the capital. East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) Director Imdadul Haq Milan conducted the session.

Kaler Kantho Acting Editor Shahed Muhammad Ali made the address of welcome while Sightsavers Bangladesh Country Manager Amrita Rejina Rozario shared her thoughts on the importance of the survey.

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Population Planning and Research Chief Mahboob E Alam, National Household Survey-2021 Deputy Project Director Md Akhtar Hossain, Social Service Department Project Director Adaito Kumar Roy, Supreme Court lawyer Rejaul Karim Siddique, UNDP Project Director Aminul Arefin, CSID Executive Director Jahir Bin Siddique and Sightsavers Bangladesh Advocacy Coordinator Ayon Debnath were also present on the occasion.
