The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has unearthed the reason behind the road accident which took place at Trishal in Mymensingh recently.

The CID on Monday revealed that the road accident occurred due to an unfair competition between two buses to overtake each other.

The drivers of the buses owned by MA Rahim Paribahan and Soukhin Paribahan engaged in the mad race from the capital.

Mukta Dhor, special superintendent of police (LIC section) of CID, disclosed the matter at a press briefing at the CID headquarters in the capital on Monday hours after some policemen arrested driver of MA Rahim Paribahan Mohammad Ansar Ali, 36, from Monohardi in Narsingdi. On October 16, the bus Ansar was driving hit a parked truck on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Chelerghat in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh, leaving seven passengers dead and about 10 injured.

One Mohammad Abdus Sattar filed a case against drivers and staff of the bus and the truck with Trishal Police Station next day. Mukta said that they arrested the bus driver after the LIC section came to know about the whereabouts of the driver following a shadow investigation into the case.
