BB introduces uniform fees for e-transaction

Bangladesh Bank on Monday introduced uniform fee and charges for electronic transaction through national payment switch and international payment schemes.

According to a new directive of BB, banks can charge maximum Tk 20 from customers for per transaction of money withdrawal or depositing using card of different platform at automated teller machines (ATM). 

“The customer can be charged maximum Tk 5 for check balance, taking online statement using ATMs. For pint of sale (POS) machine, the acquiring bank can charge 1.6 percent as merchant discount rate of which 1.1 percent will go to card issuing bank,” read the letter signed by Mezbaul Haque, general manager at payment system department at Bangladesh Bank. For internet banking, the central bank introduced new charge for transferring fund to other bank account using the NSPAB network.

In the QR-based payment, the acquiring bank collects 0.7 percent charge of which 0.4 percent goes to card issuer bank.

For paying chalan fee using card for government services, no fee will be applicable on court cost, fines and tax payment.

However, the bank can charge Tk 20 for paying maximum 25 thousand for other services through automated challan platform.
