Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan achieved a new personal milestone on Sunday as he surpassed Sri Lankan pace legend Lasith Malinga to become the most successful bowler in T20 internationals during their opening Group B match of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers against Scotland in Muskat, Oman.

The 34-year old, who was two wickets shy of the record, completed the feat during the 11th over of Scotland innings after he claimed the wickets of Richie Berrington (two) and Michael Leask (zero) within three deliveries in his second over of the match and took his tally to 108 wickets.

Thus Shakib also became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to reach the summit of any top wicket-taker or run-getter’s list in any format.

Shakib finished the innings with 2-17 and he now has the most number of T20 international wickets to his name which he achieved in his 89th T20I.

Meanwhile, Malinga, who recently retired from the format, claimed 107 wickets in 84 matches for his country in this format.
