The country’s dengue infections have been on the rise further as the daily number of infections from the mosquito-borne diseases again crossed 200 in the last 24 hours which was below the mark for  the last few days.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 201 more patients have been admitted to different hospitals with the disease across the country while no death was reported in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.

A total of 3205 dengue patients were hospitalised in October, 7,841 were hospitalised in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year, the DGHS said.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August, 23 in September and 14 deaths have been reported in the current month October, it added.

The DGHS said of the new patients, 140 were hospitalised in the capital and 61 patients were receiving treatment outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Sunday. A total of 651 patients diagnosed with the viral fever are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 193 outside the city, it said.
