Songwriting is an act of worship for me: Bishal

Omar Farook Bishal, one of the most accomplished songwriters in contemporary Bangla music, treats his songwriting as worship, not just a profession.

Bishal already made his mark with his own style of songwriting with the release of a good few number of his songs in the voice of some prominent artistes in Bangladesh and India.

The young songwriter feels that he is devoted to his passion for penning songs. “In a word, songwriting is like an act of worshipping for me. I am trying to create more and more quality songs surpassing the styles of my past works. I will continue this effort till the end of my life,” said Bishal.

He is currently awaiting release of his five new songs rendered by the singers like Minar Rahman, Ehsan Rahi and Pantha Kanai. Besides, two of his upcoming songs are under production in which Bishal collaborated with vocalists Shayan Chowdhury Arnob and Tahsan Khan.

Bishal informed that he was scheduled to leave for Kolkata in January next year to attend recordings of his two upcoming songs in the voice of two reputed singers of West Bengal. “I have already finished the lyrics for the upcoming collaborations in Kolkata. Details will be disclosed later,” said Bishal declining that names of the vocalists cannot be disclosed at this moment.

Songwriter Bishal experienced a lot of praise for his lyrics in the songs ‘Alo Nei Alote’ sung by Minar Rahman, ‘Dukkhodol’ by Parvez Sazzad, ‘Parchi to Khub’ by Anupam Roy, ‘Tomar Bhalo Monde’ by Srikanta Acharya, Sabbir Nasir’s ‘Tumi Dome Dom’, ‘Adha’, and ‘Amare Diya Dilam Tomare’, Prottoy Khan’s ‘Aniyomer Niyome’, Arman Alif’s ‘Amar Amar Lage’, FA Sumon’s ‘Nili Na Re Khoj’.

Of the songs, ‘Amare Diya Dilam Tomare’ won the Channel i Digital Media Award 2020 in the first edition of the award ceremony. The song ‘Adha’ bagged the Global Music Award in September this year. Apart from the lyrics, ‘Adha’ has its composition done by Bishal.
