India and Nepal are set to meet in the final of the ongoing SAFF Championship 2021 at National Stadium in Male, Maldives today.

The match kicks off at 9:00pm (BST) and will be telecast live on T Sports.

The Blue Tigers stormed into the final of the tournament emerging the table-toppers in the round-robin group stage with their 3-1 goals victory over the hosts Maldives on Wednesday.

The seven-time champions India, who clinched titles in 1993, 1997, 1999, 2005, 2009, 2011, and 2015, beat Nepal 1-0 before crushing the defending champions Maldives.

On the other hand, Nepal reached the final of the meet for the first time after playing a 1-1 draw with Bangladesh in their controversial group stage match.

India-Nepal locked horns six times in this regional competition since their first match in 1993 when India won the match by 1-0 goal. Later, they beat Nepal by 2-1 goals in 2005, 4-0 goals in 2008, 1-0 goal in 2009 and 4-1 goals in 2015 whereas Nepal won only a match in 2013 by 2-1 goals.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh interim head coach Oscar Bruzon arrived in Dhaka on Friday while the rest of the team will return home on Sunday.

“I have to meet my club president (Bashundhara Kings) and start planning for the next season of the domestic league, and then I will do some paperwork at my embassy flying to Spain. It’s been a long time and my family is waiting for me,” Bruzon told the media after arriving here.
