Bangladesh U-19 team will take on Sri Lankan counterparts in the first of five-match youth one day international series at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla today.
The junior Tigers, who earlier arrived in Sri Lanka on October 7, completed a four-day room quarantine upon their arrival before they started practice from October 11.
The U-19 boys had a mixed outing during their home series against Afghanistan counterparts last month as they defeated the Afghan lads by 3-2 in a five-match youth one-day series before losing the solitary four-day game against the same opposition in Sylhet.
Bangladesh made a couple of changes in their Sri Lanka tour from their past squad against Afghanistan as they included left-arm spinner Ahosun Habib Leon in their 16-member squad.
Khalid Hasan, Ashraful Islam Siam and Shamsul Islam, who were part of Bangladesh’s home series against Afghanistan, couldn’t make a cut in the main squad although the former two managed to make a place in the stand-by list.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka on Thursday announced a 20-member squad for their home series against Bangladesh and they named Dunith Wellalage as their skipper while Raveen De Silva was selected as his deputy.
Bangladesh U-19 team is expected to return home on October 26 after the completion of the series.
