The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against Mohammad Ali, proprietor of M/S Bashir Company, on charges of embezzling 62,88,750 cubic feet stone worth Tk 251.55 crore.

The anti-graft body’s Assistant Director Ismail Hossain filed the case with its integrated district office in Sylhet against the businessman under sections 420 and 406 of penal code, said ACC spokesperson M Arif Sadiq.

According to the case, M/S Bashir Company took lease of 61 acres land of Shah Arefin Hill under Companiganj upzaila in Sylhet for stone extraction but they illegally extracted stones at 137.50 acres land of the hill through establishing influence.
