Man rescued alive from drain after 6 hours

A 40-year-old man who fell into an open drain at Kalshi in the city’s Mirpur area on Thursday morning was rescued by fire service after six hours.

The identity of the man could not be known immediately.

Earlier in the morning, the man went missing after falling into the drain at Kalshi in Mirpur. On information, two diving units of Fire Service started a rescue operation at 9:00am and finally rescued him around 3:00pm, said Md Raihan, station officer (Media) of Fire Service Civil Defense Headquarters.

Witnesses said the man was taking a bath under Kalshi Bridge on the day.

The locals believe that the person was mentally unstable. They tried to rescue him as well as informed the fire service and local police.
