17 more die, 518 cases detected

Seventeen more people died of coronavirus infection and 518 cases were detected during the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

Though the number of coronavirus infection has remained stable in the country, the number of death has been fluctuating for around a week.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the country has reported 17 more deaths and 518 infections from coronavirus over the last 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday.

For the 9th consecutive day the country reported daily positivity rate below 3 percent as 2.34 percent infection rate has been reported in the last 24hours.

However, the daily infection rate was reported below 4 percent for 14 days in a row and below 5 percent for last 23 consecutive days in the country.

The DGHS data said the daily infection rate started declining from the ending of the last month.

During the second wave of the coronavirus infection, the highest of 264 deaths was recorded in the country on August 5 and August 10 while the highest of 16,230 cases were reported on July 28.

The number of total infections has risen to 15,64,019 with the overall positivity rate 15.61 percent.
