Jatiya Press Club (JPC) has decided not to allow any political programme on its premises in the name of seminars and discussions in a bid to uphold dignity of the organisation and avert any untoward incident.
“No rallies and programmes of a political party will be allowed to take place on the club premises in the name of discussions and seminars,” said a press release.
“The interest and dignity of the club will be upheld at any cost,” said the release, adding that the management committee is determined to maintain the discipline and order in the interest of the club and its members.
The meeting also discussed in details the chaotic and unwanted event which took place on the club premises on October 10. The JPC took the decision as some leaders of an organisation through videoconferencing held a meeting with convicted and fugitive BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at the JPC.
The rules and conditions of renting halls and auditoriums of the club must be followed, said the committee.
The club authorities also decided unanimously not to allow any programme of Jihad Smriti Parishad and Zia Parishad on the club premises as the activities of these organisations resulted in chaos and unpleasant incidents, tarnishing reputation and dignity of the traditional club.
