Ayub Bachchu’s family receives $5000 royalty

Bangladesh Copyright Office handed over a cheque of USD 5,014 as royalty to Ayub Bachchu’s family at a programme at National Archive Centre in the capital’s Agargaon on Tuesday.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Cultural Affairs Ministry’s additional secretary and president of Bangladesh Copyright Board Sabiha Parvin attended the programme as special guest. Copyright Office Deputy Registrar Muhammad Raihanul Harun gave the welcome speech.

Ayub Bachchu’s wife Ferdous Ayub Chandana, son Ahnaf Tazwar Ayub and daughter Fairuz Saffra Ayub also present at the event.

Chandana received the cheque from KM Khalid on the behalf of Bachchu’s family. 

The monetisation and digital syncing of Bachchu’s 272 songs on various platforms like Facebook, YouTube and iTunes were ensured, and royalties were collected from two telecom companies and one local OTT platform. The family will receive regular royalties, as monitored by the copyright office.

Ayub Bachchu was the first-ever applicant for the E-Copyright system. He applied to register his works right after Online Copyright Registration System (E-Copyright) was established on August 23 in 2017.
