Army chief inaugurates Army Aviation Forward Base in Ctg
Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed inducts two Bell 407 GXi helicopters to the Army Aviation Group, aviation unit of the Bangladesh Army at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Monday by cutting a ribbon.

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed inaugurated Army Aviation Forward Base, Chattogram at Shah Amanat International Airport on Monday.

Besides, two Bell 407 GXi helicopters were inducted to the Army Aviation Group, aviation unit of the Bangladesh Army, through the same programme.

Chief of Army Staff in his speech said that due to the dedicated efforts of the Prime Minister, the construction of Shah Amanat Airport, Army Aviation Forward Base at Chattogram and the inclusion of two state-of-the-art Bell 407 GXi Helicopters in the Army Aviation Group have been made possible.

Through setting up a forward base in Chattogram, providing air support to the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) and Cox’s Bazar areas will be easier than before and will reduce costs a lot.

These helicopters can also be used for various missionary needs such as search and surveillance from aircraft and scout helicopters. In addition, these helicopters can provide medical assistance, mission management and limited emergency supplies.

Senior Army, Navy and Air Force officials and media personnel were present at the programme.
