12 Rohingya ‘criminals’ held in Cox’s Bazar

Police and Armed Police Battalion (APBn) detained 12 suspected Rohingya criminals in two raids in Ukhia Upazila of Cox's Bazar on Monday.

Of them, five are suspected members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA).

They were identified as Omar Farooq, 19, his father Muktar Ahmed, 50, Md Selim, 38, Md Arafat, 25, and Mansur Alam, 25.

They were all captured from Balukhali Rohingya camp in the morning.

According to a press release issued by APBn-8, acting on a tip-off, a special APBn team raided the camp and nabbed the suspects who were reportedly preparing for a robbery.

The team seized six machetes, two knives and eight iron rods from them. A case has been filed against them with Ukhia Police Station.

In another drive, police arrested seven suspected criminals in Madhursara camp in the upazila.
