Meher Afroz Chumki, chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, on Monday said adolescent boys and girls require extra care so they don’t make any mistake.
“Girls and boys go through a variety of psychosomatic changes during adolescence, so pay extra attention to them at this time,” she said.
Unilever Bangladesh Ltd (UBL), international development organisation Plan International Bangladesh and Children's Affairs Journalists Network (CAJN) jointly organised the roundtable meeting.
She further said, “We need to create awareness among all about the health of adolescents. The trend of child marriage in the society has blocked the way of our teenagers. Therefore, those involved in child marriage should be brought to justice. The media can play an important role in this regard.”
The former state minister for the ministry also inaugurated the “Dove Self-Esteem Project” through a joint venture between Unilever Bangladesh Ltd (UBL) and Plan International Bangladesh.
