Three killed in Ctg road accidents

CHATTOGRAM: At least three people including children and female student were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in the district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Khadija, 18, of Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla district and an eleven-grade student of Islamia College in the city, Md Jonny, 14, of Mirsarai upazila and Md Siyam, 10, of Sitakunda upazila in the district while the injured was Siyam’s father Mintu Mia, 35.

Sources said Khadija went to Abhoy Mitra Ghat (Naval-2) area in the city with her friends after finishing her classes.

The accident occurred when a lorry hit her from backside while she was walking beside the road in the area around 11:00am, leaving her seriously injured.

Later, she was rushed to CMCH where the attending doctors declared her dead, said In-charge Nurul Alam Ashiq of the hospital police outpost.

On the other hand, another accident occurred when a lorry hit a fish-laden pick-up van on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda Sadar area under the upazila in the morning.

The accident left the both children dead on the spot while Mintu Mia injured critically.
