Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said that investigation is going on against controversial persons who get party ticket by concealing information in the Union Parishad elections.
“It is being investigated whether there is any controversial person who gets nomination by providing fake and concealing information in the UP elections or not,” he said.
The minister came up with the remark as the Awami League is giving party nomination to the aspirants of Union Parishad elections.
The Election Commission announced schedule for 848 UP polls on November 11 along with by-election for Sirajganj-6 and 10 municipalities slated for November 2.
Mentioning that Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) participates in the UP polls by concealing their party identity, Quader termed such activities of BNP as ‘color changing politics’.
“BNP leaders do not do what they say publicly but, they do not say publicly what it does secretly. The people have turned away from the BNP by realizing its double standard politics,” he said. The minister also alleged that BNP is searching for democracy after killing party’s internal democracy.
“BNP is putting obstacles in the way of to democracy. They are looking for undemocratic ways to go to power,” he said.
