Dhaka Padatik stages ‘Katha 71’ at BSA today

Popular theatre troupe Dhaka Padatik will stage its Liberation War-based play ‘Katha 71’ at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy today as part of the ongoing Ganga-Jamuna Theatre Festival.

Written by Kumar Pritish Bal and directed by Debashish Ghosh, the play ‘Katha 71’ revolves around a freedom fighter and his son.

 Kazi Chapal has played the role of a freedom fighter and Shifat has played the son of Kazi Chapal. During the Liberation War Kazi Chapal realises that his son has been brain washed by Razakars.

Then, the freedom fighter decides to have a chat with his son. As the play moves forward the audience gets a glimpse into the tumultuous days of 1971, plight of refugees, sacrifices of freedom fighters and genocides committed by Pakistani occupation forces.

The cast of the play includes Akhter Hossain, Abdullah Rana, Shifat Bin Aziz, Rezaul Alam Madhu, Motaleb Hossain, Shamsuddin Shabuj, Abul Hasnat, Asaduzzaman Ripon, Khondokar Atikur Rahman,  Bornali Akhter, Marzia Zabin, Samina Akhter and others.
