Durga Puja to be held at 116 mandaps in Bhola

BHOLA: Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community, will be held at 116 mandaps in the district this year.

The idol makers are now passing busy time ahead of the Puja.

The five-day long festival will begin on October 11 with due respect and religious fervor across the country and end on October 15 with immersion of the idols of goddess Durga and other deities.

Asim Kumar Saha, general secretary of the district Puja Celebration Parishad, said a total of 116 puja mandaps will be erected and Durga Puja will be held in compliance with all health rules here.

The government has already allocated 500 kgs of rice for each puja mandap.

Special security measures are being taken to ensure security and peaceful celebrations during festival, Superintendent of Police Sarkar Md Kawser said.

Stern and lawful action would be taken against the persons who would be involved in creating anarchy and trouble at the time of puja, he added.

The monitoring team will work at the district and upazila level in this regard.
