MANIKGANJ: A total of 505 puja mandaps have been erected for the Sharadiya Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu Community, in all the seven upazilas of the district this year.

Manikganj district Puja Udjapan Parishad President Basudeb Saha said this year the numbers of puja mandaps have increased as the corona situation in the district improved. He said Durga Puja will be celebrated all over the district in a befitting manner and festive mood.

The government has allocated 500 kgs of rice for each of the puja mandaps as the gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Basudeb Saha also said ‘we are fully satisfied as the District Administration, District Police Administration, RAB, Ansar and VDP, Fire Brigade and Palli Bidyut already assured us for necessary cooperation for celebrating the puja in a peaceful atmosphere’.

The five-day long festival will begin on October 11 and end on October 15 with immersion of the idols of goddess Durga and other deities.
