3 missing teen girls rescued

Three teenage girls, who went missing with cash and gold ornaments on September 30, were rescued from the capital’s Abdullahpur area on Wednesday.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion-4 (RAB) rescued the trio -- Sneha Akhter, 16, Kazi Dilkhush Jannat Nisha, 15 and Kaniz Fatema, 16, said Md Mozammel Haque, commanding officer (CO) of the elite force unit.

Being allured by a woman that they would be sent to Japan, they left their residences at Pallabi with Tk 6.75 lakh in cash and 2.5 tolas gold ornaments.

When they reached Cox’s Bazar, the woman got her two associates to snatch the cash and gold ornaments the girls possessed, he said.

After their missing, Advocate Kazi Rawshan Dil Afroz, elder sister of Jannat Nisha, filed an abduction case mentioning names of four youths and   four to five unknown others with Pallabi Police Station on October 2.

On the next day, police arrested four youths -- Tarikul, 19, Rakibullah, 20, Zinnia alias Tiktok Zinnia Rose, 18 and Sharfuddin Ahmed Ayon, 18.

The girls got into a bus from Cox’s Bazar around 9:00pm on Tuesday and got down in the Abdullahpur area from where they were rescued around 4:30am.
