An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Tongi East Police Station was doped by a gang in the capital on Tuesday.

ASI Parves Mallik, 39, is undergoing treatment in Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital in the city.

One Saidur Rahman, who took Parves Mallik to the hospital, said he was traveling on a bus of Balaka Paribahan from Gazipur crossing to go to Sayedabad in the capital.

“When the bus reached Banani, I suddenly noticed a policeman lying on a seat, just behind my seat,” he said.

“Then I along with some other passengers called him repeatedly, but he did not respond to us.  We then thought that he got unconscious,” he said.

“Afterwards, I first had taken him to Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where his stomach was washed. Later, he was referred to the hospital,” he added.

The doctors said the ASI was fed with something mixed with anesthetic, he said.
