A Dhaka court on Tuesday sent Saiful Islam, director of e-commerce platform ringID, to jail in a case filed under Digital Security Act (DSA).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam passed the order after CID inspector Sohel Rana, also investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced him before the court on completion of his two-day remand in the case.

The IO also pleaded to keep Saiful behind the bars till the conclusion of the probe in the case. Defence lawyer, however, pleaded for his bail.

After hearing both sides, the court sent Saiful to jail and set October 11 to hold hearing on his plea prayer.

Earlier, another Dhaka court on October 2 placed Saiful Islam on two-day remand. He was arrested from the capital's Gulshan Police Station on October 1.

A woman named Ankhi Begum filed the case against 25 including Saiful Islam with Bhatara Police Station, alleging that she has been conned after investing in ringID.
