5 missing teenage girls rescued

Five out of seven teenage girls who went missing from the capital’s Mirpur area on September 29 and October 3 were rescued from the city and Netrokona on Monday.

Members of Mirpur Detective and Crime Divisions rescued them. Police said four girls -- Zakia, Rhodesi Stella, Jamia and Marina -- were found in the capital’s Sadarghat area and at a house in Netrokona while another one whose name could not be known were discovered at her friend’s house in Rupnagar of Mirpur.

Zakia and Jamia went missing from Ansar Camp area on September 29 while Rhodesi Stella and Marina went missing from Janata Housing area of Mirpur on October 3, said Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station.

Police, however, did not reveal how the girls went missing and how they were rescued, but sources said that four girls left their residences with their boyfriends.
