ACC sues ex-RMC principal

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday filed a case against two people, including former principal of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Dr Md Abdur Rouf, on charges of embezzling Tk 1.74 crore while procuring hospital instruments.

The anti-graft body’s deputy assistant director Rakibul Hayat filed the case with its integrated district office in Rangpur, said ACC spokesperson M Arif Sadiq. The others accused is Md Moksedul Islam, proprietor of Three Eye Merchandise.

According to the case statement, the accused in collusion with each other purchased five dental chairs without performance security for the hospital during 2012-13 fiscal year violating rules and regulations.

The accused embezzled Tk 1,74,96,500  through corruption while procuring medical instruments for the hospital also violating the the Public Procurement Rules 2008 in the procurement.
