‘Condemned Cell’ to be staged at BSA today

Popular theatre troupe Prangone Mor’s much-acclaimed production ‘Condemned Cell’ will be staged at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 07:00pm today.

‘Prangone Mor’ is staging the drama in the ongoing Ganga-Jamuna Theatre Festival. 

Written by Ananta Hira and directed by Awal Reza, the story and the characters of Condemned Cell are imaginary.

With the story of the Liberation War in 1971, when people of Bangladesh underwent unspeakable sufferings and brutality at the hands of the Pakistani occupation forces (the Razakars and Al Badrs) and so many people lost their lives.  Imaginary stories and characters are depicted through the play.

All the incidents of the play took place in the condemned cell of the prison, where death row convicts remain according to the jail code.

The cast of the play include-- Nuna Afroz, Ananta Hira, Awal Reza, Ramiz Raju, Zahidul Islam, Mainul Towheed, Subaktagin Shubho, Shubheccha, Tuhin, Sujon, Sujoy, Prokriti and others. 

Besides ‘Condemned Cell’, Prerona of Padatik Natayashonshod and Aynaghor of Ethik will be staged at Experimental Theatre Hall and Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy respectively at the same time.
