‘Ghum Nei’ staged after eight years

Mahakal Natyasampradaya’s much-acclaimed production ‘Ghum Nei’ has been staged after eight years. The play was staged at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity in the capital’s Baily road area on Sunday. The troupe staged the premiere show of Ghum Nei in 1994. 

‘Ghum Nei’ was last staged at PHA auditorium of Gono Bishwabidyalay in Savar on March 30 in 2013.  

‘Ghum Nei’ is based on a novel by Nasiruddin Yousuff with the same title. Guerrilla operations by the freedom fighters during the Liberation War has been presented in the play. John Martin has dramatised and directed the drama.  

The cast of the play includes Mir Zahid Hassan, Md. Shah Newaz, Kabir Ahmed, Faruk Ahmed Sentu, Monirul Alam Kajol, Abdur Rahim Shuvro, Ripon, Iqbal Chowdhury, Aminul Ashraf, Shibli Sarkar, Shahriar Polin and others.

To note: The play ‘Ghum Nei’ will also be staged at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy tomorrow in ongoing Ganga-Jamuna Cultural Festival.
