8th BMJA Music Awards Announced

Runa Laila gets lifetime achievement award

Bangladesh Music Journalists Association (BMJA) announced the names of the winners of BMJA Music Awards 2020 on its official Facebook page on Friday.

Internationally renowned Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila has been honoured with the lifetime achievement award.

Popular singer Tahsan Khan got the award in the best singer category for his song ‘Aboddho Robo Na’, written by Artik Shajib and composed by Tahsan Khan. 

Zulfiqer Russell won the best lyricist award for writing the song ‘Chokher Bhetor’ while  composer Rajan Saha the best composer award for the song ‘Hridoy Anurage’. 

Celebrated singer-composer Bappa Mazumder won the best music director award for the song   ‘Lockdown Dhaka’.

The other recipients of the award are— Badrul Hasan Khan (best critic award for male), Afroza Momen (best critic award for female), Nadira Mukta (promising singer), Tanjina Ruma (special jury award), Gaanchill Music (the best music production company) and Kamrul Hasan Khan (special award, posthumous). 

The 8th edition of BMJA Music Awards marks the second virtual announcement of this award. The association said that the decision of cancelling this year’s gala event was taken due to the ongoing pandemic and they decided to give the award virtually.
