Bangabandhu’s niece Hamida Wadud dies

Hamida Wadud Poly, niece of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, died of a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Friday. She was 68.

Hamida Wadud, a cousin of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and second daughter of Bangabandhu’s younger sister Khadiza Hossain, left behind her son, daughter, two sisters, grandchildren and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn her death, reports BSS.

Her namaz-e-janaza was held after Zuma prayers. She will be buried at Banani graveyard on October 4 at 10am on her husband’s grave.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of Hamida Wadud.

She also prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and extended her deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
