Legendary lyricist, director, producer and screenwriter Gazi Mazharul Anwar will be honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award in the first edition of ‘RTV Music Award 2020’ for his contribution to the field of country’s music industry. The award ceremony will be held at the ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital today.
‘RTV Music Award 2020’ will be given in 10 categories, including, Best Singer (Male), Best Singer (Female), Best Folk Singer (Male), Best Folk Singer (Female), Best Band, Best Music Director, Best Lyricist, Best Promising Singer, Best Musician and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Gazi Mazharul Anwar started his career as a lyricist at Radio Pakistan in 1964. He debuted in the Dhallywood film industry in 1965. He also wrote screenplays for a number of films. His first directorial film ‘Nantu Ghotok’ was released in 1982. He has directed 41 films so far.
The six-time National Film Award-winning artiste has penned more than 20,000 songs in his illustrious career. Three of his songs have made it to BBC’s list of twenty best Bangla songs of all time.
He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2002 and Independence Day Award in 2021 by the government of Bangladesh.
