Former Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza paid a visit to the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on a different purpose as he guided pacer Taskin Ahmed with some bowling tips on Thursday.
Taskin, arguably the fastest bowler in the country, spent some time with his childhood hero Mashrafe and tried to learn how to do cutters and slower deliveries.
“I asked bhaiya (Mashrafe) to give me some time. Although I’m improving in pace and swing, I wanted to improve my slower balls,” Taskin told reporters after the practice session.
“I was telling him that I want to improve my slower ball. He showed me some grip today and told me that everyone has a different action and you can try these things.
“I’m happy that he showed me some grip for cutters and it looked good to me and I’m sure if I can execute it in the middle it will be beneficial for me…I’m happy that he gave me time from his busy schedule,” he added.
Taskin said that although he is learning the cutters he doesn’t have any desire to be like Mustafizur Rahman as he feels it’s impossible to be a cutter-master like Fizz.
“I can’t bowl like Mustafizur and he is a cutter master,” said Taskin.
Bangladesh T20 skipper Mahmudullah ran to Mashrafe after seeing him in the home of cricket and hugged him before all got involved in sharing their own experiences with the likes of Soumya Sarkar and Nurul Hasan in the practice session.
