Send-off reception for ICCR scholars hosted

The High Commission of India, Dhaka hosted a get-together to bid farewell to Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholars at the Chancery premises on Thursday.

Around 65 awardees, representing nearly 300 selected scholars across Bangladesh attended the event.

The nearly 300 students selected across Bangladesh for ICCR scholarship for higher studies in prestigious educational institutions in India, include 170 students from Dhaka, 32 from Chittagong, 22 from Rajshahi, 20 from Sylhet and 16 from Khulna.   High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram K. Doraiswami interacted with the ICCR batch of 2021-22, during the event.

Engineering courses attracted the maximum numbers, followed by Sciences, Social Sciences and Dance and Culture. Among those that qualified, around 74 percent were men, and 26 percent women, said a press release the High Commission of India on Thursday.

Through  this,  they  will  also experience  the  diversity  of  India’s  different  regions,  through  contact  with  different cultures and traditions prevailing in those regions.

These young talented minds, after their successful academic pursuits, would go on to become leaders in Bangladesh’s progress in all fields, especially culture, economics, science and technology.
