Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh and China has reached a new height and the two countries now need to explore more avenues for further cooperation to realise the full potentials of this partnership.

In a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of 72nd anniversary of the founding of China on October 1, she said more than a thousand years back, the two peoples established contacts which facilitated flow of knowledge, culture and trade between the two ancient civilisations.

“Modern China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China is a significant partner for our socio-economic development,” the Prime Minister said, adding, “We greatly appreciate China's continued support during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”

Sheikh Hasina said the relationship between Bangladesh and China has reached a new height over the last decade.

Mentioning about the visit of President Xi Jinping to Bangladesh in 2016, she said, “We agreed to elevate our bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership. We now need to explore more avenues for further cooperation to realise the full potentials of this partnership.”

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said China and Bangladesh have been working together to address the regional and global issues for peace, security, stability and development.

In this context, she recalled her visit to China in 2019 when she had very productive meeting with the Chinese President and had in-depth exchanges of views on bilateral relations, regional and international issues of common interest, and reached broad consensus.

“I believe the exchanges and cooperation at various levels between our two governments and peoples will be further strengthened in the coming days,” said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also sent separate letter to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on the occasion of the 72nd national day of China in which she said the evolution of the relations into a strategic partnership in 2016 has been a manifestation of the common aspirations of the peoples of the two countries towards peace, progress and prosperity.

She hoped that relations between Bangladesh and China would be further strengthened, deepened and widened in the days ahead. She wished good health, long life and happiness of the Chinese leaders and continued peace, progress and prosperity of the friendly peoples of China.
