A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed controversial Islamic orator Mufti Kazi Ibrahim on a two-day remand for interrogation in a case filed with Mohammadpur Police Station under the Digital Security Act.

Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Md Noman passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) of police’s Sub-Inspector Md Hasanuzzaman, also the investigating officer of the case, produced the Islamic orator before a court with a 10-day remand petition.

Opposing remand plea, defence lawyer submitted bail petition for Mufti Ibrahim but the court rejected the petition after hearing.

Earlier in the day, DB of Dhaka Metropolitan filed the case against Mufti Ibrahim under the Digital Security Act on charges of spreading propagandas through social media sites.
