2 more die of dengue, 217 hospitalised

Two more people died of dengue disease and 217 patients were hospitalised during the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

The number of dengue infected patients and fatality has been increasing day by day in the country while the number of patients hospitalized with the disease has already crossed 18,000 here.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 217 more dengue patients were hospitalised and two deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning. It said 7,651 dengue patients were hospitalized in September, 7,698 dengue patients in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in the last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August and 21 in September, the health directorate data added.

The DGHS said 174 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 43 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday.

A total of 776 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 207 outside the city, it said. The number of deaths from the dengue disease also has been increasing day by day as a total of 67 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added.
