45 to vie for each seat

DU admission tests begin tomorrow

Around 45 admission seekers will compete for each seat in the first-year undergraduate (honours) admission test of Dhaka University (DU) under 2020-21 academic session which will begin from tomorrow.

A total of 3,24,340 admission seekers applied for admission against 7,148 seats of five units of the university. For the first time, the admission test of the university will be held in eight divisional universities which include Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Khulna University, Barishal University, Begum Rokeya University, Bangladesh Agricultural University and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

This year, among the 3,24,340 applicants, 1,17,957 will vie for 1,815 seats in 'Ka' unit while 47,632 for 2,378 seats in 'Kha' unit, 27,374 for 1,250 seats in 'Ga' unit, 1,15, 881 for 1,570 seats in 'Gha' unit and 15,496 for 135 seats in 'Cha' unit.

The admission test of 'Ka' unit will be held on October 1, 'Kha' unit on October 2, 'Ga' unit on October 22, 'Gha' unit on October 23 and 'Cha' unit on October 9.

DU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman briefed the journalists at Abdul Matin Virtual Classroom of the university regarding the admission test on Wednesday.

Zero tolerance policy has been taken to prevent any kind of fraudulence centering the admission test, he said.

The university administration and law enforcement agencies are always active in this regard. Law enforcement agencies have taken necessary steps in the divisional cities, he said further.

It will save money and time of the students as the examinations will be held in the divisional cities, he added.
