‘Global community lauds Hasina’s leadership’

Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said Sheikh Hasina has been acclaimed by the world community for her clear vision and leadership qualities.

“Her (Hasina) courageous leadership has been praised by the United Nations,” he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said this while addressing a discussion organised by Awami League marking Sheikh Hasina’s 75th birthday in the capital’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

Quader said that they want to build a modern and smart Awami League. “That’s why we have to pay attention to devoted leaders of the party instead of opportunists,” he said.

Everyone needs to be united and maintain discipline for the sake of the party, he said.

“Those involved in misdeeds won’t be nominated by Awami League in the future,” he said.

He further said that trial of war criminals had been possible due to the bold leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

“Massive development work has been carried out and people are living in peace due to her prudent leadership,” he said.

Quader said Bangladesh Nationalist Party is holding a series of meetings to wage a movement against the government.

“But country’s people would not allow any violence in the name of movement. Awami League along with the people would give a befitting reply to the BNP,” he said.

At a separate programme on the bank of the Padma River at Naria upazila marking the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the minister virtually said the Padma Bridge will open before June 2022.

“The Padma Bridge is now visible due to the efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Padma Bridge is no more a dream now but a reality,” he said.

A special doa was offered at the event which was attended by about 100 imams of mosques on the occasion of the prime minister’s birthday.
