Man with gold paste in rectum held at HSIA

Foiling a unique tactic to dodge airport security check, a preventive team of Dhaka Customs House has arrested a man along with huge gold in his rectum in the form of paste at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday night. The arrestee was identified as Anwar Hossain. He reached Dhaka on a flight (EK-584) of Emirates Airlines from Dubai around 11:30pm.

Sanwarul Kabir, deputy commissioner of Customs House (Preventive), said

acting on a tip-off, members of the customs preventive team took position in key points of the airport.

At one stage, the officials challenged Anwar for his suspicious movement when he was crossing the boarding bridge of the airport. Later, they found 1,022 grams of gold paste hidden in his rectum.

Four more gold bars, weighting 464 grams, and 110 grams of gold ornament were also found in his bag.

The value of the seized gold was estimated to be around Tk 1.5 crore, Sanwarul added.
