‘Everyone should work to fulfil health-related commitments’

Speakers at a national dialogue on Saturday said that all stakeholders must work together to fulfill the commitments made by the political parties in the health sector before the last general election, reports BSS.

They said the commitments related to the development of the health sector, made by the political parties, prior to the general election of 2018, have become even more relevant because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over the course of three national budgets, significant amounts of resources have been allocated to attain these goals. But, still there is a long way to go, they cited. The speakers made such observations at an online national dialogue organized jointly by Bangladesh Health Watch and Unnayan Shamannay, said a press release.

The title of the event was “Assessing progress towards realization of health-related commitments of Election 2018”.

Unnayan Shamannay Chair and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman presented the keynote paper while Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon, Parliamentary Standing Committee member on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Dr. AFM Ruhal Haque, Dr. Habibe Millat, MP, Dr.  Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul and President of Bangladesh Medical Associate (BMA) Dr. Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin were among the discussants.
