Int’l confce on business begins at DU

The Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University (DU) has organised a two-day long international conference titled ‘5th International Conference on Business and Economics’ at Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday.

The theme of the conference is ‘Business and Economy in the New-normal Landscape’ this year.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof  Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman urged academics, researchers, economists, technologists, policymakers and faculties to conduct more fundamental research and foster innovation in the light of pandemic and SDGs.

He said that COVID-19 pandemic poses a great threat to many countries and nations to achieve the SDGs by 2030.

Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is doing much better than other countries towards the tremendous progress and success in achieving SDGs and socio-economic conditions, he added.

Dean of Faculty of Business Studies Prof Dr Muhammad Abdul Moyeen presided over the inaugural function while DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice

Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and Chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam addressed the inaugural session as special guests.

Pro-Vice Chancellor of Swinburne University of Technology, Australia Professor Bernadine Van Gramberg delivered the keynote speech on ‘Balancing Health and the Economy during COVID-19’.
