Bangladesh A batters make merry on third day

Yasir Ali struck unbeaten 65 runs while Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain and Mohammad Mithun all made decent contributions with the bat as Bangladesh A team reached 258-4 in their second innings at stumps of the third day’s play during the second four-day game against High Performance Unit in Chattogram on Friday.

Earlier, HP Unit, who resumed on 237-8, failed to add any run to their overnight score after left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan took the remaining two wickets to finish with 5-60.

Bangladesh A team, who were bowled out for 231 runs in their first innings, lost opener Saif Hassan (18) early in their second innings after HP Unit earned a narrow six-run lead in the first innings.

Shadman then made 49 while Najmul, Mominul Haque and Mithun scored 47, 30 and unbeaten 46 runs respectively along with Yasir’s fifty as Bangladesh A finished the day having a handsome 252-run lead over HP Unit.

Najmul, however, looked annoyed when he was given LBW off left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam and showed his anger to the on-field umpire’s decision while leaving the field.
