The Bangladesh Football Federation on Friday announced a 38-member preliminary squad of U-23s for the upcoming AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers, scheduled to be held on October 27-31 in Kuwait.
A total of 12 national players have been included in the squad. They are defenders -- Rahmat Mia, Riyadul Hasan, Yeasin Arafat, Bishwanath Gosh, Rimon Hossain, Tariq Raihan Kazi, Tutul Hossain Badsha and Md Ridoy; midfielders -- Biplo Ahmed and Manik Hossain Mollah; forwards -- Mahbubur Rahman Sufil and Md Jewel.
Apart from them, a new expat Bangladeshi player Younuf Zulqurnain Hooque has also been added to the squad. Zulqurnain has been playing for Ipswich Town FC in England.
“The U-23 team will start practice camp from next week under the leadership of Maruful Haque, who has been appointed as a new interim coach of U-23,” BFF president Kazi Salahuddin told the media on Friday.
“Maruf has already started working with the federation,” he said.
