Bangladesh’s premier archer Ruman Shana finished his campaign in the ongoing World Archery Championship on a disappointing note after he lost to Federico Musolesi of Italy by 6-0 sets in the first round of recurve men’s singles event in Youngstown, USA on Friday.

Shana, who earlier was eliminated from the first round of the recurve team’s event, fell behind from the beginning of the first set and lost by 25-27 points.

He then lost the next two sets by 26-28 and 26-29 points respectively to finish the competition with empty hands.

Another archer Ram Krishno Saha, who defeated Luis Goncalves of Portugal by 6-2 sets in the first round, failed to keep the winning rhythm in the next round as he lost to Luis Alvarez of Mexico by 4-6 sets.

Hakim Ahmed Rubel, however, performed well among all Bangladeshi archers in the same event as he defeated Michal Haliulek of the Czech Republic by 6-4 sets in the first round and also beat Soto Ricardo of Chile by 7-3 sets in the second round.

However, he finally lost to Wijler Steve of the Netherlands by 4-6 sets in the pre-quarterfinal of the event.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s female archer Beauty Roy also continued her poor form in the tournament as she was eliminated after losing to Denisa Barankova of Slovakia by 4-6 sets in the recurve women’s singles event.

In compound’s event, Asim Kumar Das narrowly beat Ramon Lopez of Spain by 143-142 score in the men’s singles first round before he conceded defeat to Jozef Bosanky of Slovakia by 145- 146 score in his next match.
